As we have all lived through the experience of working and schooling from home during the pandemic, you and your student may be wondering about what their future professional options look like, and what kind of support Temple University is providing to them. Read on for more information about how the Temple University Career Center has adapted to the current environment.
Most importantly, we continue to be available to students virtually. For the Spring 2021 semester, the Career Center’s operations are entirely virtual. The best way to stay up to date on our calendar, services, and offerings is for your student to log into their Handshake account at temple.joinhandshake.com. Learn more about how your student can leverage handshake by visiting https://temple.campusesp.com/posts/1818.
For individual attention, students can schedule 30-minute career coaching sessions with our staff via Handshake, and those appointments take place on Zoom or as a phone call. The following units schedule online or phone appointments via Handshake for students within these colleges or schools:
- College of Education and Human Development
- College of Engineering
- College of Liberal Arts Joyce K Salzberg Center for Professional Development
- College of Science and Technology
- Fox School of Business
The Career Center offers virtual Same Day appointments on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-2, and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11-12. See our Zoom links for these sessions here: http://www.temple.edu/provost/careercenter/about/visit.html
Since our shift to virtual operations, we have prioritized access to our existing online tools and added new content. You can easily find a wealth of digital career research, exploration, and preparation tools at: http://www.temple.edu/provost/careercenter/virtual.html. We have added several new videos on career preparation to our YouTube channel, and continue to update it with new content. Find it at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7fxgy2j35YxkDq4nLnoepA/videos
If your student is a first-year student or transferred from another institution, they can also take advantage of the Temple Together program online. The Career Center offers the Career Starter Badge within this program, which features a set of activities designed to introduce new students to all the Career Center has to offer.
