Email sent to Temple University students on August 25, 2021 from Dr. Stephanie Ives, Associate Vice President and Dean of Students
As we begin a new school year, I’d like to enhance your knowledge and encourage your understanding about Temple’s expectations and resources in three critical areas:
Temple University has campuses in many vibrant local and global communities, and we truly value and respect our neighbors. Behavior that disrupts our university communities might violate the university’s Student Conduct Code as well as local laws. We ask that you take your role as a responsible member of the Temple family very seriously and ensure that your behavior is respectful of others by familiarizing yourself with Temple’s Good Neighbor Initiatives. This year, the Student Conduct Code has been expanded to address bias-related intimidation or harassment (charge #27). Please familiarize yourself with all the violations of the Student Conduct Code, in particular this new provision, and use this knowledge to be good citizens wherever Owls go. All colleges and universities are concerned with high-risk substance use and abuse. At Temple, we want to support your healthy choices and prevent the harm that can come from the decision to use illegal drugs or drink heavily. The university's policy on drug and alcohol use provides comprehensive information regarding
Temple strongly encourages you to call the appropriate authorities for medical assistance if you or others are dangerously under the influence of drugs or alcohol and need help. No student seeking medical treatment for the effects of drug or alcohol use will be subject to university discipline for violations pertaining to drug or alcohol use that are outlined in the Student Conduct Code. Please review the code for more information on the university’s medical amnesty policy. The Wellness Resource Center, Student Health Services, and Tuttleman Counseling Services can provide you (whether virtually or in person) with information about, and support for, these and other health-related issues. Your health, wellness and safety are critically important to us. Take the time to familiarize and empower yourself with this information. |
I wish you a safe and healthy fall semester.
