My student also lives off campus and we have also faced this challenge. There are two immediate ways that we have used. The first is to send them packages to the UPS store located in the Student Center. If students have not rented a mailbox (range between $20-$40 per month), then there is an additional fee of $5.00 to pick up any packages sent to students through UPS. I often send packets to my student c/o Federal Express at 1816 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia PA 19130. They call her when it arrives and hold it for her. I have not found FedEx ground to be any more expensive than UPS. Indeed, it has sometimes been less expensive.
