University Operations During Fall Break and the Thanksgiving Holiday

Fall break and the Thanksgiving holiday are approaching. This message includes important information about university operations during this time.

During fall break, from Monday, Nov. 25 through Wednesday, Nov. 27, no undergraduate classes will be held, but the university will remain open and otherwise function as normal. Students from graduate and professional schools should refer to their school's academic calendar for more specific schedule information.

The university will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29. Essential personnel should check with their supervisor to coordinate schedules throughout the break.

Some services and offices may have abbreviated hours during fall break. Please use the following links to check hours of operation:

Undergraduate Residence Halls
Undergraduate residence halls will close on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 12pm and will re-open on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 10am. Students will be required to vacate their university housing assignment by 12pm on Saturday, Nov. 23 unless they have registered for break housing. Break registration was made available on MyHousing beginning on Monday, Sept. 30; the final day to submit break requests is Friday, Nov. 15. The last meal served prior to this break will be lunch on Saturday, Nov. 23. The first meal upon return is dinner on Sunday, Dec. 1.

Health Sciences Center (HSC)
The Medical Education and Research Building (MERB) is open around the clock. Access to Kresge Science Hall (including Kresge West) and the Medical Research Building (MRB) is through MERB.

The following buildings at the Health Sciences Center (HSC) will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29, with normal business hours resuming Monday, Dec. 2:

  • School of Pharmacy
  • Kornberg School of Dentistry
  • Medical Office Building
  • Student Faculty Center

If access is needed to any other HSC building that isn't accessible by card swipe, report to the Temple Police station at Parkinson Pavilion (Broad and Tioga streets). If you have permission to access an HSC building via the card swipe access system, and plan to do so, alert Temple Police. Temple Faculty Physicians (TFP) clinical practices will be closed on Friday, Nov. 29.

Ambler Campus faculty and staff who need access to buildings during the holiday should call the Temple Police (215-204-1234) and an officer will meet you at your campus location. The Infant Lab and MedEast Prosthetic Clinic will remain open and operating on the regular patient schedule. The Red Barn Gym will close at 6pm on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and reopen on Monday, Dec. 2. The Ambler Arboretum is open daily from dawn to dusk. Academic operations will resume on Monday, Dec. 2.

Center City (TUCC) will close at 5pm on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and reopen on Monday, Dec. 2. The student computer lab will close at 4pm on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Harrisburg will close at 5pm on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and reopen on Monday, Dec. 2.

School of Podiatric Medicine, including the Foot and Ankle Institute and satellite clinical practices, will close at 6pm on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and will reopen at 7am on Monday, Dec. 2.

Safety & Conservation Recommendations
Students living off-campus are encouraged to review the Public Safety website for tips before leaving for fall break and available services if staying in your residence through the long weekend.
