A Message from Tuttleman Counseling Services: Connecting Your Student to Mental Health Resources During the Coronavirus Pandemic

Posted almost 5 years ago in Student Support.

Dear Parents and Families,

Staff from Tuttleman Counseling Services (TCS) are committed to supporting the health and well-being of students during this time of great uncertainty.  Although we are closed for face-to-face meetings, we continue to offer our services remotely via phone and a secure video conferencing platform.  Please know that due to licensure laws, we are only able to offer ongoing care to those students currently residing in Pennsylvania.

For out-of-state students, we will gladly provide consultation and assist with finding local providers and supports.  In addition, all enrolled students (regardless of current residence) are welcome to join our open groups on Zoom that are dedicated to providing support during this pandemic.  While these are not therapy groups, our staff hopes these spaces will allow students to come together and discuss their current thoughts, feelings, and struggles related to coronavirus and their personal and academic lives.

If your student is interested in accessing services remotely or learning more about our open groups, please have them visit https://counseling.temple.edu/access-services.  If your student experiences a mental health emergency, please have them visit the nearest psychiatric emergency center, call 911 for assistance, or call 215-204-1234 to reach Temple police if they are near to Main Campus.

In this time of heightened stress, we also encourage you and your student to visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/index.html.  Here, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) details how all of us can plan, prepare, and cope with stress in light of COVID-19.

If you have any questions about our services or are in need of consultation, you are welcome to contact us during regular business hours at 215-204-7276.

The entire Temple community is in this together and we will work with you to make this transition as smooth as possible.

Warmly,

The TCS Staff
