Klein College of Media and Communication’s mission is to prepare the media creators of tomorrow for professional careers as well as scholarly pursuits through a dynamic combination of academic rigor and practical training within a large urban media market. Our faculty is rich with research, creative, and professional experiences to represent the wide range of professions represented across the college.

Here are the questions parents and family members frequently ask us:

Where can a student study away with Klein Global Opportunities?
Students can study internationally across 6 continents, primarily in major cities with over 15 locations to choose from. Students can also travel to other parts of the United States for study away opportunities, popular locations include Los Angeles, California, Arizona, and Washington D.C. Klein GO has many established and consistent programs, however, the office is constantly evolving and new locations and programs become available each year. Many students participate in more than one study away opportunity while at Klein College! Scholarships are available for Klein GO programs.

What professional development opportunities are available to my student?
We offer a variety of curricular and co-curricular activities, including our Klein seminars for first-year, transfer, and professional development. The Klein College Office of Career Services offers individual career coaching sessions, workshops on professional topics, resume reviews, and much more! Your student can join our college's internship and job database, Klein Connect, as soon as they are enrolled as a student.

How are students advised at Klein?
Klein College students are advised for the first time during New Student Orientation session. As the semester begins, they will meet with a Klein Advisor in their Klein College Seminar, Klein 1001 for First-Year Students, and Klein 2001 for Transfer Students, and be assigned to a specific academic advisor who remains with them throughout the academic journey at Klein, from freshman year through graduation.

Why are Klein Students assigned to a specific academic advisor?
After reviewing various models of academic advising both within Temple University and at higher education institutions across the United States, Klein’s Office of Academic Advising implemented an official caseload model in 2021. With this model, students can build a stable and consistent relationship with an advisor, get a personalized approach as the assigned advisor will become familiar with the student’s individual coursework, activities, and preferences, and have a clear line of communication between student and advisor.

How do students make an appointment with an academic advisor in Klein?
Klein College uses an online appointment system that students access via the Klein College page of TU Portal. They can also send an email to the Klein College main email address, advise@temple.edu, or call the Klein College Advising Office, 215-204-5273, for assistance.
