Here are the questions parents and family members frequently ask us:
Where can a student study away with Klein Global Opportunities?
Klein’s Office of Global Opportunities (Klein GO) offers travel immersion programs as short as 3 days in Washington D.C. to a full semester abroad in Dublin, Ireland. From a week in New Mexico, London, or Puerto Rico to a summer session in LA, there's a Klein GO program that's right for every student. In addition to studying away, students can intern abroad in over 10 cities to gain invaluable work experience on top of a life-changing program abroad.
Klein GO programs are incorporated into classes that are taught by members of Klein’s worl-renowned faculty and are supported by staff dedicated to ensuring our student’s travel is safe, educational, and personally enriching.
Klein GO has many long-running programs and is constantly evolving with new locations and programs becoming available each year. Many students participate in more than one study away opportunity while at Klein. Scholarships are available for Klein GO programs.
What professional development opportunities are available to my student?
Professional development is important to the growth and success of our students so much so that Klein’s embeds it in our curriculum. During the first year, Klein students are required to take a 1 credit professional development course in which they will create a résumés, cover letters and LinkedIn profiles. Throughout their time here, students are introduced to networking and interviewing skills along with experiences that will help identify their own strengths and prepare them for future careers in media and communication. All Klein students have access to exclusive Klein Career Services for coaching, workshops and events like Employer Fridays and Career Fairs. Klein students and alumni may also look at daily internship and job listings on Klein Connect and submit résumés and cover letters for review. As soon as students enroll, they are encouraged by faculty and staff to join media and communication organizations to build their confidence, résumé and experience.
How are students advised at Klein?
Klein students are advised for the first time during New Student Orientation session. As the semester begins, they will meet with a Klein advisor in their Klein College Seminar, Klein 1001 for First-Year Students, and Klein 2001 for Transfer Students, and are assigned to a specific academic advisor who remains with them throughout the academic journey at Klein, from freshman year through graduation.
Why are Klein Students assigned to a specific academic advisor?
Klein’s Office of Academic Advising implemented a caseload model for advising students. With this model, students can build a stable and consistent relationship with an advisor, get a personalized approach as the assigned advisor will become familiar with the student’s individual coursework, activities, and preferences, and have a clear line of communication between student and advisor.
How do students make an appointment with an academic advisor in Klein?
Klein students can make an appointment using our online appointment system via the Student Tools page of TUportal. Additionally, students can also send an email to advise@temple.edu or call the office at 215-204-5273, for assistance.
