Student involvement: Club sports, professional organizations in my student’s major and teaching assistant.
My moment of pride: My student was very successful in adjusting and making the best of the pandemic circumstances.
My piece of advice: Encourage and value balance. Academics, student activities, service and social life are all important.
My favorite thing to do when visiting my student: Walking the campus and visiting the bookstore.

Student involvement: My student is involved in a co-educational National Services Fraternity, APO. She also works part-time crafting and posting social media for a local business.
My piece of advice: Don't hover or become a "helicopter parent", but remain open and accessible to your student. Give them the space to grow, stumble and explore who they are, while letting them know that you are always there for them. It starts out being a difficult balancing act, but gets easier with time.
My favorite thing to do when visiting my student: Visit, explore and get to know Philadelphia and try new restaurants.

My piece of advice: Learn the neighborhood and remember you are a guest in a place residents have spent their entire lives. If living off campus, get to know your neighbors.
A moment of pride: Having my daughter spend a semester in Rome, where she held an internship at their #1 TV station while exploring much of Italy.
My favorite thing to do when visiting my student: Heading to center city to try a new restaurant.
