Coming off one of its most successful seasons in nearly a decade, head field hockey coach Michelle Vittese has announced the program's 2023 schedule. Highlighting the slate is a matchup against Power 5 opponent Virginia, three Big 5 contests, and 11 home games.

"We are very excited to announce our fall schedule!" Vittese said. "The team is coming off a fall 2022 season where we performed incredibly well, but ultimately we fell short of our team goals. We had a promising spring season with a lot of development in our core group, so we are looking forward to this challenging schedule. We have a great group of freshmen, an experienced group of returners who have all grown significantly, and some graduate transfers who are looking to make their mark on the TUFH program!"

In 2022, Temple cracked the NFHCA rankings (No. 24) for the first time since 2014 and finished the year ranked No. 23. The Owls qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament for the third straight year, defeating then-No. 13 UConn for the second straight season, before falling to host school Old Dominion in a semifinal shootout. The team saw its best RPI finish (23) since finishing 11th in 2014.

The Owls will get a preseason tuneup with a pair of exhibition games, traveling to Rutgers on Aug. 16 and hosting Rider on Aug. 20. Temple will open the regular season at home, with its first five games of the season set for Howarth Field. Crosstown rival La Salle will come to North Broad on Aug. 25 before Bucknell makes the in-state trip on Aug. 27.

The Cherry and White is set to host Yale (9/1) and Virginia (9/3) to open September play, closing out its homestand on Sept. 7 against LIU. The Owls then get their first road test of the season when they head to James Madison on Sept. 10.

Temple will open BIG EAST play against UConn (9/15), with the team looking for its third-straight victory over the Huskies, before hitting the road to face Lehigh on Sept. 17. The team will see a pair of league contests with a break in-between, traveling to Old Dominion (9/22) and hosting Liberty (9/29).

Opening a three-game road stretch at Monmouth on Oct. 1, Temple will close it with another pair of conference matchups at Providence (10/6) and Georgetown (10/13). The Owls will return home to host Delaware on Oct. 15 and BIG EAST opponent Villanova on Oct. 20 before heading across town to Saint Joseph's (10/22). The team will close its road slate in its conference finale at Providence (10/27) before closing the regular season at home on Oct. 29 against Lafayette.

The BIG EAST Tournament is set for Nov. 3 and 5, and will be hosted by Temple at Howarth Field.
