Pre-Professional Health Advising (PPHA) is an undergraduate advising office for current Temple University undergraduate students and alumni who are interested in preparing for health professional school. The advising offered by our office supplements the academic advising provided by the advising center in the student's primary college (based on their major). We support students interested in preparing to go to professional school in any of the following areas:
- Medicine
- Dentistry
- Physical Therapy
- Pharmacy
- Occupational Therapy
- Physician Assistant
- Podiatry
- Optometry
- Veterinary Medicine
PPHA works with students as they enter Temple University in order to help them build a step-by-step, competitive profile for professional school. Our advising, workshops, and ePortfolio system are utilized to keep students organized in a timely way as they prepare for their eventual applications.
PPHA Timelines
PPHA provides timelines for each of the nine pre-health areas listed above on our website. Each timeline provides information on what professional schools may require. It’s highly recommended that students review these timelines as an introduction to following a pre-professional health track.
ePortfolio
ePortfolio is a tool that will help students stay organized for a professional school application. Through the ePortfolio process, students will set up a “mock application” that includes GPAs and professional development experiences.
The circle to the right represents four areas that are important for admission to professional school. As you embark on your journey to medical school, think about ways to enhance each of these four sections:
- Exposure to Health Care
- Community Service
- GPA
- Test Score
